* A WANTED MAN (REPRISE) *

MAGGIE, WINNIE, SEAN, ED, NEWTON

Well...

MAGGIE

It isn't very often that we get an opportunity to gather up,
Blather up,
Work a little lather up havin' a dance.

WINNIE, SEAN, ED, NEWTON

But when the chance come around,
Everybody in the neighborhood is sure to be found.

MAGGIE

You see, Luther was keen to do a bit of boot scootin',
So he hired up a band and planned to have a hootenanny
As a celebration of his new determination to be wed.

LUTHER, WINNIE, SEAN, ED, NEWTON

But...

LUTHER

The rhythm of the fiddle
And the subtle way a player has of handlin' a mandolin
Is settin' up a scandal in the feminine heart
With the start of a plan
That maybe she could dally with a different man.

WINNIE, SEAN, ED, NEWTON

All the people gathered for the party want to learn about
Whether Maggie may have made a little turnabout.

LUTHER

How can she be happy
Bein' married to the Pappy-killin' kind?

J.M.

I'm a wanted man!
My business of thirst-quenchin'
Has come to the attention of an agent of the law.
But I got a plan...
I'll get him in my sights and then we'll see.
Wanted man...
Ooh, it's him or me!

HAZEL, WINNIE, SEAN, ED, NEWTON

I s'pose you gotta take a little pity on a kid
Who tried to bludgeon a curmudgeon
But the geezer comes a-trudgin' up and over the hill
'Cause he's still got a grudge,
And he doesn't want to leave it to a jury and judge.
But I got a lot of people makin' offers to the widder,
So I'm gonna wait and see who'll be a better bidder.
'Cause however I come off it
There's an awful lot of profit to be made!
